Don't Get Attached - part deux

Where have you been all my life?  It's very funny, that you can scan the world of Ebay and various watch forums but never find something "just like" what you are looking for.

I suppose this is a bit about obsession.  And guilty again of seducing me - Bell & Ross!
A few years ago, I got the grand tour of Girard-Perregaux/JEANRICHARD and here I stumbled across something that has haunted me ever since -

These are watches commissioned by a certain Italian firm engaged in automotive manufacturing.  They are produced by Girard-Perregaux, and sadly (but certainly understandably) not available to the general public.

And I think it is like one of those things that is sitting there, right in front of you, but you just don't see it.  So thank you Bell & Ross for adding to my list of obsessions!

This is the BR 126 Officer in Silver -

Here are the details -

Mechanical automatic movement.
Functions: hours, minutes, seconds. Date. Two-counter chronograph (with 60-second and 30-minute accumulators).
Polished steel case. 41 mm diameter. Screw-in sapphire case-back with anti-glare coating.
Silver dial. Hands covered in a photo-luminescent coating. Polished metal appliqué numerals and index.
Ultra-domed sapphire glass with anti-glare coating.
Water-resistance: 100m.
Grey alligator strap or steel bracelet.
Polished steel folding buckle.

Now don't get me wrong, that GP still is something wonderful - but I must say that this Officer's Chronograph from Bell & Ross is not merely "something like" - it is more than just something that reminds me of something else.  The bi-compax chronograph is something that I have always loved.  I am not timing NASA level calculations, or even laps around a race track.  I do, however, want to know how long it takes to cycle to work, how long it really takes to cook eggs in purgatory, and my all time favorite - just how long "in a minute" really is!  And this beautiful, simple and functional chronograph gives me that.  And by simple I do not mean stupid.  I mean simple, straight forward and easy to use.

So back to obsession - I guess for now I will stay obsessed.

Enjoy your watches!
