Time Well Spent with Savoy

This was perhaps my favorite BaselWorld by far! I got a LOT in, but perhaps best of all was getting to meet and spend time with some people that I have only met "virtually".  My Sunday morning was spent in part with Pascal and Lola Savoy.

Savoy is a FUN brand! And one that I suspect you will be hearing about more and more because they have taken what I believe is a very egalitarian approach to luxury.

There are a lot of "bargain brands" out there at one end of the scale, and at the other end there are brands that can bankrupt you due to their very, very high cost!

But then we fall to a price category that frankly is a bit unloved by watch brands - but truly loved by customers.  That being in the sweet spot of $1,000 or so.

And the results both in terms of the watches, and the customer response, have been encouraging.

More than just quartz pieces, automatic watches have joined the collection and have really helped to strengthen the brand.

Rome was not built in a day, and neither is any good brand.

But from the looks of things, it appears that Savoy is well on its way.

And I think what I really like about Savoy is that it provides a very important reminder about a luxury item - it doesn't have to cost a "zillion" dollars.   A luxury item is something that you don't necessarily need, but something that you want.  And in the best cases, something that speaks to you on an emotional level.  And in this Savoy is already a huge success.

And for those of you more pragmatic souls out there, fear not!

They also make a very smart looking pen!
